Tanker Explosion

Client: Lykins Energy Solutions
Location: Dublin, OH

ERC responded to an 8,000-gallon fuel tanker explosion, which resulted in a fatality. Additionally, the explosion closed down access to the ramp for more than a week.

The newly constructed flyover ramp connecting Route 33 to eastbound interstate I-270 burned at extreme temperatures as parts of the ramp’s concrete deck melted.

ERC swept the road and provided a vacuum truck to control runoff. The Environmental Services group then excavated, loaded, transported, and disposed of 355 tons of petroleum-impacted soil for the event. Next, our team imported clean soil for backfill and compaction. Lastly, ERC installed a new concrete mat for the runoff on the hillside of the ramp.
