Frequently Asked Questions
ERC is a self-performing environmental remediation and civil construction contractor. We handle environmental cleanup, ecological restoration, and emergency response directly with our own crews, rather than subcontracting the work out.
ERC is headquartered at 370 North Eureka Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204.
ERC performs work throughout Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Broader mobilization may be available depending on a project’s scope, schedule, and resource requirements.
ERC has provided environmental remediation, ecological restoration, and emergency response services for more than 15 years.
ERC self-performs the majority of its remediation, demolition, and restoration work with its own crews and equipment. This keeps one accountable team on a project from initial assessment through final restoration, rather than a chain of subcontractors.
ERC maintains Avetta, VERO, and ISNetworld certifications, and our field crews complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training with an annual 8-hour refresher.
Emergency Response
Yes. ERC provides 24-hour response for petroleum, chemical, and other hazardous or non-hazardous material releases. For an active environmental emergency, call 877.683.7724.
ERC’s emergency line is answered by a real person around the clock, and a HAZWOPER-trained crew is dispatched immediately for active spills or releases. Actual response time depends on your location and the nature of the incident.
Prioritize safety first: eliminate ignition sources, keep people clear of the area, and prevent the material from reaching a storm drain or waterway if it’s safe to do so. Then call ERC’s emergency line at 877.683.7724— don’t wait to assess the full extent before calling.
Yes. ERC responds to transformer oil releases, including the additional handling and disposal requirements that apply when PCBs are confirmed to be present.
Yes. ERC responds to tanker truck and rail-related environmental incidents, coordinating directly with emergency services already on scene to contain and recover released material.
Environmental Remediation
Yes. ERC performs contaminated-soil excavation and treatment and installs systems designed to collect, treat, or control affected groundwater and soil vapor.
In-situ remediation treats contaminated soil and groundwater in place — using bioremediation or chemical oxidation, for example — without excavating or removing the affected material. It’s typically used when excavation would be too disruptive or costly relative to the contamination present.
Cost depends on tank size, location, accessibility, permitting requirements, and whether contamination is found once the tank is out of the ground. A site-specific assessment is the only way to get an accurate number — be cautious of any flat price quoted before excavation begins.
Yes. ERC removes both underground storage tanks (USTs) and aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), including soil assessment and closure documentation.
Yes. ERC coordinates waste profiling, transportation, treatment, and disposal as part of an environmental project. Requirements depend on the waste classification, project location, and receiving facility.
Landfill corrective action addresses the gasses, leachate, and other byproducts a landfill generates over time, typically through capping systems, leachate collection, and gas management infrastructure. ERC performs this work for active, closed, and coal ash landfill sites.
Yes. ERC installs remedial systems — including soil vapor extraction, sub-slab depressurization, and similar technologies — to treat contaminated soil and groundwater without full excavation.
Ecological Restoration
Yes. ERC’s ecological construction capabilities include stream, wetland, floodplain, shoreline, and bank restoration. This allows one contractor to manage cleanup and site restoration when both disciplines are required.
Yes. ERC performs stream and river restoration, including channel work, bank stabilization, and habitat restoration for both natural degradation and construction-related disturbance.
Yes. ERC designs and constructs wetlands, and restores existing wetlands that have been degraded or damaged, for both private and municipal clients.
Yes. ERC has completed dam removal and reservoir, canal, and shoreline restoration projects, including a low-head dam removal for a municipal client in Dayton, Ohio.
Industries & Project Types
ERC serves manufacturing and industrial facilities, oil and gas operators, construction and real estate developers, transportation and infrastructure projects, utilities and energy companies, government and municipal agencies, mining and extractive industries, data centers, healthcare and pharmaceutical facilities, and waste management and recycling operations, including coal ash sites.
Yes. ERC performs the contaminated soil removal, demolition support, and site restoration that brownfield redevelopment projects require, typically working directly alongside a developer’s environmental consultant.
Yes. ERC provides cleanup services for illegal dumping sites and vacant or unauthorized encampments, including hazardous and non-hazardous material removal, for municipalities and private property owners.
Yes. ERC operates vacuum trucks and trailers for removing liquids, sludge, and other regulated materials from tanks, sumps, and containment areas, for both planned projects and emergency response.
Yes. ERC operates vacuum trucks and trailers for removing liquids, sludge, and other regulated materials from tanks, sumps, and containment areas, for both planned projects and emergency response.
Yes. ERC self-performs demolition alongside remediation on many projects, which removes the coordination delay of waiting on a separate demolition subcontractor’s schedule.

It helps to know the general location and nature of the issue — a suspected contamination source, a tank you’re looking to remove, or a restoration project you’re planning — but you don’t need a full site assessment before reaching out. We’ll help scope the next step.
Yes. our case studies page includes completed projects across storage tank removal, soil and groundwater remediation, demolition, and ecological restoration, with the actual clients and engineers involved.
